BAA Plans Major IT Makeover
BAA is set to cut a huge chunk of its budget for management systems and infrastructure transformation, amounting to £137 million. The revamp will run for five years, which will include enhancing its security and access control, queue management, asset management and terminal support.BAA also plans to shell out £30 million scheme for the renovation of its datacentres, servers, wireless networking, network management and other infrastructure. The move aims to streamline operational expenses and capitalize on “useful asset lives”.
Of the £137 million, about 30 percent will be allocated to business planning systems gearing towards the development of how vital data are used in meeting business needs. Changes will be felt by its enterprise resourse planning, document management, and resource systems divisions.
