Advertiser Group Opposes to Yahoo-Google Merger
The Association of National Advertisers sent a letter to Assistant Attorney General Thomas Barnet asserting their objection towards an impending partnership between and Yahoo and Google. The group maintains that such union will regulate roughly 90 percent of search advertising inventory.ANA's letter further expressed that if Yahoo and Google will tie up, competition will most likely recede, but the concentration of power will be in an upsurge. Moreover, the partnership is deemed to boost prices to advertisers.
Despite protests, Yahoo insists that the deal with Google will fortify its competitive position and will help grant a higher quality marketplace for advertisers. The deal between the two huge companies came to light amidst talks of Microsoft-Yahoo merger.
