U.S Works on Cyber Defense

The U.S government is now working on a project similar to Manhattan Project in hopes of defending federal networks from potential cyber attack. Manhattan Project was created to develop the first nuclear weapon during the World War II by the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.


Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security, said that most of the daily operations of Cyber Security Center remain classified. He also expressed that the federal government’s mission is to use early-warning technology to identify irregularities related to malicious attacks. He pointed out that the project aims to lessen the number of access points to federal domains and to classify a limited number of points to allow better and effective traffic monitoring.
