Twitter Bans Trending Topic List

According to reports, micro-blogging site Twitter has censored its Trending Topics list, filtering inappropriate terms.

Last Thursday, several Twitter users posted indecent sexual terms which were listed in the site's third party applications like TwitScoop and Hashtags. The terms did not appear in Twitters Trending list, which sparked criticisms from a number of users.

Twitter has not officially commented on the move, albeit the firm is aiming to keep its rising business users who access Twitter for  legitimate functions.

Spammers have long exploited Twitter's  TrendingTopics list, pushing adverts to millions of users. The site's move came subsequent to calls made by the Article 29 Group to regulate social networking sites.
