Superiors Disregard Toxic Data Risk, Report Says
UK's information regulator said managers should cease leaving data security to their IT support staff and be liable for their company's classified data.Information Commissioner Richard Thomas stated, "Many did not understand the risks of storing personal data."
Thomas also added that company information are a "toxic liability' and asset to a business organization.
The commissioner is presently probing on 30 critical data breaches of information security law by the government and other groups. He believes that every organizations should promote a more secure network and create stricter regulations regarding data security. He also encourages firms and other bodies to keep as little data as possible to avoid substantial risk for the country.
