Remote Theft Tracking Offered in Netbooks
Remote Theft Tracking Offered in Netbooks
A tool that helps users do remote tracking is now offered by Absolute Software. The release is just in time when security becomes a major concern of business organizations.Computrace, as named by Absolute Software, has been offered since last year, but the company had to wait another year to find a firmware needed to embed it to netbooks. The tool is a tracking system employed to allow machine recovery in cases of theft or loss. With the software, users would know about any modifications to their netbook and would receive reports if there are hardware configurations made.
Computrace, however, works differently in netbooks than in laptops. It can’t be used on remote data deletion and full geo-location tracking. Another disparity is the small amount of time taken by Absolute Software’s staff to locate lost or stolen netbooks.
Supported netbooks include ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, General Dynamics Itronix, HP, Lenovo, Motion, Panasonic and Toshiba. Users may obtain it for $24.99 per machine for a 1-year license.
