Pentagon Spends $100 Million Dealing With Online Attacks

According to Air Force General Kevin Chilton, head of the US Strategic Command, the Pentagon allocated $100 million to bounce off after being attacked by cyber criminals. Chilton said the Pentagon has spent huge amount on computer equipment, contractors, and IT support teams to protect the office from further external attacks and fix internal errors.

Chilton did not specify the rate of external attacks launched against the Pentagon. He also made no comments over the possibility of attacks from foreign governments to the US military systems.

Chilton said, "The important thing is that we recognize that we are under assault from the least sophisticated — what I would say the bored teenager — all the way up to the sophisticated nation-state, with some pretty criminal elements sandwiched in-between."

"This is indeed our big challenge, as we think about how to defend it."
