New Group to Integrate Security Industry

A new group has been established to ensure the unity among vendors in the IT security sector. Industry Connections Security Group (ICSG) includes popular security vendors like Symantec, McAfee, Sophos, and Trend Micro.
 

The group will work under the guidance if the IEEE Standards Association. Despite the existence of several cross-industry security groups, ICSG was formed in a standardized format for organized improvement within the IT security industry.

 

"The IEEE is a well-known brand recognised for delivering standards. By forming the ICSG under its umbrella, we can make use of its existing infrastructure and invite non-traditional players to participate," a technology consultant for Sophos said.

 

"Already the security group is improving the situation by developing an electronic delivery mechanism that not only shares the malware samples, but can include useful information such as the web site where the samples were found."
