Network Solutions Cautions Merchants About Breach

Network Solutions has notified merchants who use its Ecommerce Hosting services about the stolen credit card numbers reaching over half a million. The firm disclosed that an unauthorized person installed a software on its servers, compromising data from 573,928 people.
 

Network Solutions explained, the code "may have been used to transfer data on certain transactions for approximately 4,343 of our more than 10,000 merchant Websites outside the company."

 

Credit monitoring firm TransUnion also notified consumers who were most like affected by the attack. As a result, they will be given 12 months of free credit monitoring. 

 

Authorities are now investigating, and Network Solutions claim no misuse of the compromised credit card numbers has been reported as of yet. The firm established a website for merchants and consumers to get updates regarding the attack.
