NBC's Olympic Web Coverage Hailed for High Turnout

NBC is getting rave reviews over its web coverage on the Beijing Olympics. The network reported 12 million hits and 70 million page views on its Olympic website during the opening ceremony. Its tech partners are also part of the network’s success. 
NBC deployed a high performance transoceanic network and some high-end supporting technology to ensure a smooth coverage of the program. Cisco, one of its tech partners, built the contribution network that feeds the over-the-top (OTT) service, carrying content captured on site through feeds from Beijing to NBC’s studios in New York. Microsoft also contributed through having a successful trial on its Silverlight platform for online video coverage. Limelight Networks, an Arizona-based content delivery provider, also helped delivering streaming multimedia coverage through its fiber optic TCP/IP network.
