Internet Watchdog Busts Child Abuse Websites

The Australian Communications and Media Authority and Australian Federal Police acted to quash websites promoting sexual abuse following an international alert by a web surfer in Ireland.
Melbourne IT, an Australian internet company, blocked access to the web addresses in question after authorities requested them to do so. Local police could not probe further as the content of the websites are hosted overseas, despite the fact that the domains are registered in Australia.



The tip-off was made through the Irish Internet Hotline which is a member of the International Association of Internet Hotlines, an organization focusing on the abolishment of child abuse materials on the web.
