Internet Addiction Considered as a Clinical Illness

According  to an Internet Addiction Disoder (IAD) dignostic manual, internet craving is now regarded as a medical disorder.

People itching to get online for over six hours a day in preference to working or studying and becoming anxious when not being able to access the net are two primary symptoms of IAD. The usual preys of this so-called disease are those who usually get involved in online activities such as gaming, net pornography, extreme involvement in virtual social networking, excessive internet shopping and general cyber-surfing.

If the Ministry of Health officially ratifies the new IAD manual, it will be publicly launched by 2009. Should this be the case , China will be the very first nation to acknowledge IAD as a clinical disease.
