White Hat hacker Jeff Moss was hired by the US government as one of the newest members of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).

DHS secretary Janet Napolitano said, "I congratulate the members of the HSAC on their appointments.

"As we work to fulfil the Department's core mission of securing the country against the many threats it faces, the unique insights and expertise of this diverse council will be a valuable resource."

Moss will serve as a government adviser on America's IT insfrastructure security. He will be working with 24 other HSAC members, which includes former CIA and FBI heads.

Moss established the Black Hat and Defcon computer conferences. Despite his background, Moss claims he had long stopped hacking and is now working as a corporate network security tester.
