Google Search Result Attack Spreads Like Fire

A web attack that infuses Google search results with malicious links is causing massive panic among web searchers. Legit websites are embedded with malicious links which targets vulns found in Adobe's software and employs them in installing noxious programs.

According to security analysts, the programs snitch FTP login information, which are then used to sprawl the attack. Browsers are also highjacked, giving users bogus search results.

The attack was traced back in March, when hundreds of websites were corrupted. Experts have named the attack Gumblar; however, it labeled differently now.

ScanSafe, a security firm, has recorded 3,000 websites infected by the attack, which is deemed really unusual. What's especially bothering about the recent attack is its growth rate. Most web attacks drop over a few months because web servers are religiously cleaned by webmasters.
