Google Battles Against New Anti-Trust Complaints

Leading search company is facing a new anti-trust probe from the Italian authorities, which focuses on a complaint filed by the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers.  Google's Milan offices were searched as part of the ongoing investigation. 
 

The complaint claimed Google caused publishers not to acquire sufficient information to set their coverate and gain more advertising revenues by ineptly disclosing its new ranking method. 

 

A representative from Google said the firm is currently reviewing the claim and stated, "We respect the wishes of content owners, which is why we've made it easy to opt out of our services. However, when it comes to Google News, we have far more requests for inclusion than for removal."

 

"We'll continue to work with all web sites and news publishers to help more people discover their content, and for those that don't want to appear in Google or Google News, we'll continue to honour those requests as we always have."
