French President Preyed by Cyberattackers

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is the latest victim of cybercrooks who hacked his bank account and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The hackers removed a few small sums after they got hold of entry details to the President's online account.


The recent cybercrime prompted the French government to alert citizens over possible online intrusions. France accounted a nine percent increase in internet banking security breaches this year and the government is now taking every measure to lower this down.



Luc chatel, secretary of state for consumer affairs, said in a stament, "The swindlers will be punished.



He also added, "These cases are sufficiently rare that we haven't had to really organise ourselves, but [are] sufficiently serious for us to reflect on how to improve the system."
