Company execs are asking the government to stake a hefty amount for the progress of green IT. The UK government is now being encouraged to spend £1 billion into ICT for local services which will enable businesses to reduce expenses while promoting green technology.

Logicalis, the Society for Information Technology Management (SOCITM), and Labour MP Andrew Miller all shared the same views and forwarded the documented initiative at the House of Commons. They recommended the use of central government funds, to be allocated to local services.

“For every pound spent of this £1 billion fund... services would see a return of at least £3 in efficiencies by 2012. By the time we are out of the recession a return of investment could already have been achieved," Logicalis UK marketing and solutions director Chris Gabriel said.

Andrew Miller also expressed,  “I firmly believe that solutions to some of these IT and environmental issues will not happen with government working alone or the public sector working alone. It must be a partnership and a partnership is a vital tool for driving change.”
