Experts See Significant Growth in Online Retail

A report from the  IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index revealed that online retail grew by 12 percent during the first six months of this year. 
 

According to IMRG, one thing that boosted online retail is the number of customers who often window shop. This is converted to rate per visit, which trimmed down the drop in purchases from that of 2007. 

 

The report further noted that the sluggish growth rate is “in line with the longer term historical trend."

 

Growth is estimated to draw out over the next few months. 

 

Mike Petevinos, head of consulting for retail at Capgemini UK, said, “Greater levels of competition and an increased propensity of consumers to research before they buy will put pressure on conversion. However, this level of decline highlights a clear opportunity for retailers to improve customer experience through their online stores in order to capture their purchases."
