EU Probes Deeper on Microsoft's Initiative on Web Browser Choice

The European Commission is collecting comments from Windows users on Microsoft’s proposal to allow them to choose web browsers.

Microsoft has made revisions on the proposal, offering Windows 7 without a browser. The new operating system will hit the shelves on October 22.

Microsoft’s proposal would employ Windows update mechanism over the next five years in the EU. A “choice screen” will be displayed giving users a chance to pick their preferred browser.
