Deutsche Telekom Hijacked
Attackers have stolen classified information on millions of Deutsche Telekom customers. The company acknowledged the data breach on 17 million mobile users.The attack is dated back to 2006 where information such as date of birth or e-mail addresses have been compromised. It was only unveiled to the public when Der Spiegel magazine wrote a report on having been able to trace down information on 17 million Telekom mobile users. The company, however, assures that bank details, credit card numbers, and call data were not stolen.
Telekom maintains it had contricted security since the incident. Mobile phone customers were advised to change their numbers for free and the company organized a toll-free hotline to manage customer inquiries.
