Companies Set Aside Green Tech Projects During Financial Crunch
With today's sluggish economy, firms are carefully setting their priorities to keep their businesses afloat during hard times. Companies are keeping a small chunk of their budget to costly ventures like green technology.According to research firm Gartner, businesses focus more on cost cutting measures nowadays, setting projects that require part of their spending aside . However, Gartner polled 620 execs who administer green technology where majority expressed their companies are still interested in various green IT projects, provided the cost is manageable.
The survey further revealed some firms will pursue green initiatives. Around 60 percent are planning to do so and 15 percent will allocate IT capital budgets to green projects.
Most of the European companies do not think recession will affect their aim to promote green tech. However, it's the other way around in the US. Some 33 percent of US firms said they are putting green initiatives at the bottom of their priority list.
