Companies Lack Mobile Security Policy, Survey Says

A research by security company SafeNet revealed that 40 percent of business organizations lack security guidelines on employee accessibility of company data from mobile units. The result comes as an alarming news considering the fact that last year only recorded half of the rate in 2009. Safenet’s research implies that companies neglect to set security policies when it comes to their employees accessing data remotely.

Vodafone said an increase of 30 percent was seen in the UK data services sales for the fourth quarter of 2008. The boost is attributed to the surging number of professionals connecting to their company network outside their work premises.

A survey last February also showed that around 45 percent of companies are accessing confidential information while using mobile PC connectivity. However, only a third of the respondents acknowledged using secure mobile devices when accessing classified data.

Gary Clark, EMEA vice-president at SafeNet, said, "With the world in recession, we are likely to see a rise in ID fraud and data theft.”
