Businesses Fritter Away Millions on Trifling Security
Former Google information officer Douglas Merrill revealed that companies have been squandering on unnecessary security, which all the more razes financial structures amidst recession.Merrill said companies have been venturing in useless and at times harmful security, cutting a huge chunk of their overall budget. Top executives are incurring unimportant spending because of lack of knowledge on the technology.
"Everyone listens to security officers. Executives are, in fact, terrified of us. So they write us cheques," he said. "The thing is, they don't know why,” Merrill said.
Another contributing factor is how the return on investment is inadequately regarded by security professionals. Some even put their companies at risk because of excessive restrictions. Merrill claims that companies could profit from knowledgeable staff, who are not overly restricted and are free to explore on things that could be proven beneficial to business.
