BT Break-In Causes Major Internet Outage

A lot of internet users all over London lost connectivity following a break-in that cost BT Group £2 million worth of telecoms equipment.  Sophisticated equipment such as routers, servers, and network cards were reported to have been filched.


The telecommunications operator revealed that its Mayfair office was robbed and that most of the services had now been reconditioned by BT engineers. Reports pointed out that the thieves used Guy Ritchie's birthday party next door as a diversion.



BT is the largest communications service provider in the United Kingdom which also happens to be one of the largest communication companies in the world. It operates in more than 170 countries and almost a third of its revenue now comes from its Global Services division.
