Phishers Retaliate with Malware Strike
Securityworks reported yet another form of malware attack initiated by the people behind Asprox botnet. The botnet, now at least 50,000-strong with bots, is spamming messages from banks in the U.S and U.K which lead to a page with a phishing form. Users are prompted to fill out the form. If they they send an incomplete form, users will be ruthlessly attacked with malware aiming vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. On the contrary, if users decide to fill out the form with legitimate information, they will be re-directed to the main page of their banking web site. This is not Asprox' first attempt to launch such an aggressive attack. Earlier this year, they installed a SQL injection attack tool on infected bots to attack web sites. Email seems to be an easy target among hackers who want to inflict more exploits in the system. Littlefish IT support urges all internet users to watch out when clicking on anything in the web and always keep your computers protected.
