Most Expensive Security Scam of 2010

According to IT company McAfee, the most costly scam of 2010 is likely to be hoax IT security software and fake antivirus programs which would make IT connectivity users that surf the Internet to pay for something fake. The thing is that cyber criminals have the luck to convince Internet surfers into buying fake software and from this they have the possibility to earn almost 300 million dollars with no problems.

Jeff Green, senior vice president of McAfee Labs, said that "Even the savviest of computer users fall victim to online threats because cybercriminals have become so sophisticated. It's an incredibly lucrative business for cybercriminals. We're giving consumers the 'street smarts' they need to live their online lives safely. With education and the right technology, we can all play a part in the fight against cybercrime." The problem is that over the past two years, there has been a 660 percent rise when talking about fake software sold over the Internet.
