Microsoft Knew of IE Flaw Before Attacks

The most interesting thing about the IT security vulnerability that affects Internet Explorer, is that IT company Microsoft knew something was wrong for four months and didn't do anything until yesterday when it released a patch. The problem with Internet Explorer was discovered by IT company Kaspersky which reported it to the software giant no less than four months ago.

Another IT company, BugSec, also found out about the bug and sent details to Microsoft several times. Since then, the software company wanted to release a fix for the flaw and include it in February's Patch Tuesday update, but because of the severe problems the vulnerability caused, Microsoft decided to speed things up and released the fix yesterday. Kaspersky said that "the targeted zero-day attacks against US companies forced the company to release an emergency, out-of-band IE update."
