McAfee Promotes 'Cloud-Based" Malware Defense
McAfee, an antivirus software and computer security company, has unveiled new malware-signature software updates that should result in faster detection and correction of problems.Through the McAfee Artemis Technology method, McAfee is making alterations to its existing software so whenever a suspicious and as yet-unidentified harmful code is detected on the customer's machine during browsing or downloading, a process will take place in which that code will be collected and immediately uploaded to a McAfee analysis point for automated review.
The approach is part of the "cloud-based" antimalware movement also adopted by rivals F-Secure and Trend Micro, which aims to regulate the mounting malware volume. Cloud-based is a term referring to the idea that the vendors are largely depending on occurences all over the internet and reacting in a real time manner.
