Chinese Hack Attacks Might Happen Again

According to an IT security expert, there might be a huge possibility that the Internet attacks coming from China which affected many U.S. IT companies, might become a recurring issue. This type of attack that uses IT connectivity has been increasing at a very accelerated pace in the past two years. A very obvious proof is the fact that IT company F-Secure has 1,968 of such examples in 2008 and 2,195 in 2009.

Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer for F-Secure, held a private briefing on the attacks at the RSA Conference and said that these attacks are planned for certain targets and aim for their weak points. "In these cases, you are the only organizations in the world to get hit and no one else, and the attacker has done his homework," Hypponen said. This type of attack is very common but because of the fact that no one before Google made it public, it wasn't seen as a real threat. Also, governments businesses with military contracts, and non-governmental agencies advocating for human rights have been targeted for six years now.
