2,500 Firms Hacked

According to an IT company, it seems that in the last 18 months the hacker community has breached the IT security of almost 2,500 companies and government agencies. IT Support is a must when such a coordinated campaign puts everyone at risk by stealing email passwords, login credentials, and other sensitive data. Everything comes from a variant of the Zeus botnet and it has used over 74,000 PCs to spy.

The majority of the attack victims are Fortune 500 firms in the financial, energy, and high technology industries, according to IT company NetWitness. Of, course the attacks were reported to federal authorities. Tim Belcher, CTO of NetWitness said that "The botnet is still active and still actively being managed by the organized criminal activity behind it. Over the last month, we've seen it retask its (victim) members half a dozen times looking for different types of information."
