Telecommuting Aids Business Growth, Study Says
According to a study facilitated by CompTIA, concluded that business organizations who allow their employees to work online at home gain from productivity improvements, lower operational costs, as well as from having the opportunity to hire and retain efficient workers.The study was participated by 212 respondents, which were mostly IT support staff. About 78 percent of the participants admitted that their employers allow them to do telecommuting. Around 67 percent also considered increased productivity as a telecommuting advantage. Productivity increases as the time used to commute to work offices are utilized proficiently.
Approximately 60 percent of the respondents regarded cost savings as one significant benefit of telecommuting. On the adverse side, over 53 percent singled out securing corporate information systems as the major downside of telecommuting. Furthermore, the report revealed that most of the respondents have no idea how much their companies save from allowing them to work from home.
Telecommuting is a work arrangement in which employees enjoy flexibility in working location and hours. Most of telecommuters work from home. They work by telecommunication links in lieu of daily commuting to a central place of work.
