IT To Play a Key Role in Olympics 2012

IT will play a highly quintessential role in the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Organizers have plans to make use of novel media technologies like Web 2.0, internet protocol television (IPTV) and internet-enabled mobile phones to boost participation in the Games.  IT chiefs are currently toiling on a project that will make the 3-week event successful.

New technology like high-bandwidth broadband will definitely be employed in the event. The project may still be in its primary stages, but much is expected from the IT staff to make the Games a huge success. Geoff Hall, chief technology officer at Nortel, said that the the use of IT in the London Games is "on the right track."

The CTO urged IT pros to immerse themselves with the technology of the Games. Hall also noted that the IT community could further enhance the technology at the event.
