IT Industry May Save US Economy

The US economy has been in a slump for the past couple of months and there are only few sectors who might be able to pull it up. One of which is the IT industry.


Information technology companies may play a big role in the US economic recovery. The government, however, needs to shell out a very big investment in order to pull it through. It will be a rough ride, but with good leadership in IT, the economy will bounce back just as it did during the IT revolution in the '60's and '70's.



USC professor, Jon Taplin, said, "The way out of the crisis will be, I think, a very large investment program built by the government, based on leadership in IT and ET."



Taplin also added, "There's certainly going to be a lot of near-term pain.  But it's my belief that long-term, both IT and what Thomas Friedman is calling 'ET' -- energy technology -- will be the only ways to get out of this."
