IT Contractors Are Costly, Says Majority of UK Companies
According to a research from Morse, a business and IT consultancy firm, most business organizations in the UK believe they are spending excessively for IT contractors. Around 52.5 percent of the companies surveyed say they are shelling out too much for contractors, paying them a premium for certain skills they need. With the recent economic crisis, companies pay the IT support services provided by contractors to make a dent on skill gaps. About 71 percent of the survey participants take on such scheme because they need people with "knowledge of a specific part of the business."
Although this helps, majority of firms admit they are allocating a huge chunk of their budget for contractors. Additionally, some 72 percent of the respondents affirmed that " having the resources for the right skills was preventing the IT department from taking on projects that would help the business."
Mike Devlin, director at Morse, said, "The research shows the difficulties many UK organisations have in balancing their IT and business needs."
Based on Morse' recent findings, outsourcing looks like a better option than hiring contractors. Businesses can strategically connect with a single service provider compared to numerous contractors.
