IT Administrator Pleads Guilty To Hacking and Stealing
A former network administrator faces 12 years in jail for hacking, ID theft, burglary, among other charges. Andrew Madrid pleaded guilty to all accusations and admitted he used his IT skills and experience to carry out the heist. Madrid pulled off the crimes between September 2006 and March 2008.One of Madrid's victims was his previous employer wherein he wiped out massive data from the company's server. Madrid was hoping his ex-employer would hire him back once he fixes the problem he orchestrated. Throughout the swoop, Madrid used his neighbor's open wireless network to circumvent detection. He also tried getting access from various companies in Bay Area by posing as a security guard or IT support staff.
Madrid pleaded guilty on the charges against him and is slated for sentencing on January 22.
