A recent research reveals over 59 percent of retrenched US workers or those who quit their job acknowledged stealing some confidential information from their employers. A survey was conducted which was participated by 1,000 employess who got kicked off from work or chose to leave their company.
Of those who confirm pilfering company data, around 61 percent confessed they did it as a way of seeking vengeance for losing their job. Another 53 percent admitted they made copy of the stolen information through CD or DVD. About 42 percent also said they used a USB drive and 38 percent sent a copy to their own email account. In addition, there were 24 percent of the participants who yielded to breaching their employer’s computer system.
To avoid such occurrences, businesses should strictly employ their privacy policy. They should also consult their IT support team in order to properly guard classified company data.
