Dell Aids Women To Excel in the IT Support Industry

According to Dell’s diversity manager, women with expertise in IT support or working for IT companies could take advantage of social networking affairs to boost their career.
 

Dell is currently organizing a networking group along with other leading IT firms like Microsoft, Google, Nortel, Intel, IBM, HP and Cisco. Dell hosted the fourth meeting yesterday where the career development of IT women was discussed.

 

Participants were involved in motivational speaking, networking coaching, and a Q&A panel with VPs from other companies. The event, dubbed as Connecting Women in IT, also aimed to allow IT women bond with their peers from other firms.

 

"Networking is a crucial thing; you have to know what other people are doing [about equality] and how other firms deal with the issues," Devin expressed.

 

"There is a lot to learn. [Meetings give] women an opportunity to network within their own industry. We discuss things with people who are in more senior roles, and see whether we are doing things in the right way.

 

"We are like-minded people facing similar challenges. We have a mixed panel, as it is important for men to be involved and give their opinions."
