So the 'captcha' security systems for websites are turning to video to outsmart spam. Captchas that are used now display words written in a wavy way and they rely on the fact that human beings can recognize the words written and type them in correctly.


The problem is that as technology evolves so do automated systems. Now IT engineers at Tel Aviv University have been working to develop multimedia captchas that should give us a few more years before the online world turns to spam. Professor Cohen-Or describes a technique with pictures of 3D objects, like a running man or a flying airplane. It's hard for bots to understand what the human eye can see with only minimal training.
