Assurance in IT Spending Plans Takes Another Blow

According to a survey, IT decision makers have scrambled back their staffing and spending expectations in the forthcoming months due to a continuing economic downturn. The survey, which was conducted by Richard Day Research, also revealed that lesser IT managers plan to increase their staff and cut IT budgets in the next six months.

With the survey's 1,058 respondents, only 23 percent believed an increase in IT support staff will take place in the next six months. Participants representing SMBs lowered their expectations.

In addition, about 11 percent of the participants considered that IT spending will decline in the coming months. Around 40 percent were hopeful that IT spending will remain the same.

Mark Gambill, vice president at CDW, said, "This decline is likely a result of slowing tax revenues and tightening budgets, which is fueled by both the current economic climate and recent market events. However, the value organisations place on IT remains strong and once the economic environment becomes more stable, we expect confidence to rise accordingly."
