Yang Urges Microsoft to Acquire Yahoo
Following the collpase of Yahoo-Google ad deal, Yahoo chief executive Jerry Yang expressed interest on a possible buy out of the internet firm by Microsoft.Yang said, "To this day, I would say the best thing for Microsoft is to buy Yahoo."
Microsoft, however, maintains it has no plans to acquire Yahoo. Microsoft noted, "Our position hasn't changed. Microsoft has no interest in acquiring Yahoo. There are no discussions between the companies."
Earlier this year, Microsoft offered Yahoo a handsome deal, agreeing to pay 44.6 billion dollars. When Yahoo refused the initial offer, Microsoft raised the bid from 31 dollars to 33 dollars per share, which amounted to 47.5 billion dollars. However, the Northern California-based firm scrapped the deal, and instead announced an agreement with leading search company, Google. Just very recently, Google opted to back out from the deal claiming its intent to ward off legal issues with regulators.
