SMBs are Not Ready for IT Disasters, Symantec Says
Security firm Symantec claims most of small and medium businesses are not geared up to combat natural and IT disasters.Symantec’s Disaster Prepareness Survey revealed that 66 percent of SMBs across the UK lack formal disaster recovery system. The study further noted that SMBs suffer from an average of two IT service downtimes each year caused by malware infections, network attacks and power interruptions.
"The startling part of this research is the fact that SMBs do not realise the impact that outages have on customers, particularly when they have tools at their fingertips to help them be prepared to deal with disasters," Symantec said.
"Rather than continuing to be unprepared, small and mid-sized organisations can take simple steps to protect their data."
About 90 percent of those who claimed they didn’t have a disaster recovery programme plans to create one over the next six months.
