Moonlight 3.0 for Rich Internet Apps
Moonlight 3.0 for Rich Internet Apps
According to Internet pages from the Mono project, an interesting IT service - Moonlight 3.0 is being provided in an alpha release. Moonlight 3.0 gets Internet plug-in software from Silverlight (the IT service from Microsoft) on Linux and Unix platforms. Miguel de Icaza, VP at Novell, the IT company that sponsors Mono, claims that this release of the IT service is in fact the first preview of Moonlight 3.0.Miguel de Icaza added that The Moonlight core is now separated from the windowing system engine. This should make it possible for developers to port Moonlight that are not X11/Gtk+-centric." According to Novell, a beta version of the IT service will be released this summer, a final release being planned for the fall. "we recommend that you should only use this plug-in on trusted sites (e.g. internal or well-known Web sites) on non-production computers. This situation will gradually evolve over the beta releases."
