10 Percent of UK Firms Have Official Green IT Policy

Based on a study made by IT company HP, only one of every 10 European business organizations has coherent green IT policies. The survey, which was participated by 1,000 UK firms, concluded that only a number of companies are adopting the green strategy. Moreover, the research showed that companies are still skeptical about promoting energy efficiency as it may not keep track with the demand of computing power.
 

Around 66 percent of the participants believed that CO2 emmissions are are most likely to occur even if the green IT strategy is adopted. Nevertheless, majority of them still hopes to trim down the negative environmental impact of their IT operations. 

 

Another 33 percent claimed they have already carried out some environmental schemes in their IT department.  Moreover, about 35 percent said they are still mapping out some schemes to promote green technology.
