Worldwide PC Shipments on Downward Trend
According to research firm Gartner, the PC market is slowly bouncing back but shipments are still at a slow rate. PC shipments accounted to 68.1 million units on the second quarter of this year, a five percent drop from that of the same period in 2008.Gartner principal analyst Mikako Kitagawa explained, "Though the market was still in decline, the results can be interpreted as a small sign of a PC market recovery in terms of shipment volumes in some regions."
"PC shipments in Asia/Pacific and the US were better than our expectations, but shipments in the Europe, Middle East and Africa [EMEA] region indicated ongoing weakness."
HP bested all other computer vendors, who incurred a 2.8 percent growth in market share. Meanwhile, Dell trailed behind in the second place, showing a17 percent negative growth in market share.
