Smartphone Performance Questioned

Smartphones are now under fire following an independent test conducted to gauge the performance of different handsets. 
 

Broadband-Testing's Mobile Test Lab checked on voice calls, wherein no single handset was found to have optimal performance in all conditions. The report further showed that some handsets could not perfectly maintain a call even in the usual network operating areas.

 

Among the smartphone units tested were from leading brands such as RIM’s Blackberry Bold and Blacberry Storm as well as Apple’s iPhone 3G. The test identified iPhone, with updated firmware version, as the top performer. Broadband-Testing, however, noted that none of the devices generated near-perfect scores in all test conditions.

 

Broadband-Testing used Spirent’s 8100 Mobile Device Test in performing the test. The tool quantifies the ability of handsets to set up and sustain calls amidst simulating network conditions.
