Red Hat Verified Fedora Server Breach
Red Hat Verified Fedora Server Breach
Red Hat just confirmed that intruders breached a Fedora server last August 14, 2008. Linux software vendor described the incident as "an issue in the infrastructure systems", but several Fedora users smelled something more staid due to the tone of the notice.According to Fedora project manager, Paul Frields, the intrusion was immediately discovered and the servers were taken offline. Frields is also confident that the intruder was not able to snatch the pass phrase used to secure the Fedora package signing key. Nevertheless, Fedora users are not advised to download the Fedora operating system or update packages until further notice from Red Hat.
Fedora is an RPM-based, general purpose Linux distribution, developed by the community-supported Fedora Project and sponsored by Red Hat.
