Palm's decision to sell Treo Pro without a U.S operator partner may very well be a breakthrough for the company or a sign of tougher times to come. Palm decided to release unlocked phones contrary to the tradition in the U.s mobile phone market. The Treo Pro will be available later this year on Palm's online store as well as from other Internet sites, retailers and enterprise resellers.
Palm's smartphone is powered by Windows and is Wi-Fi ready with GPS. It also runs on 3G technology used by T-Mobile. The smartphone costs $549 which is way lower than the ones that come with a multiyear service contract with an operator in the U.S.
