New Smartphone Server May Attract IT Managers
Research in Motion Ltd. is aiming to lure IT managers with its latest version of Blackberry Enterprise Server. The new server boasts some backup functions and simplified tools created to enhance mobile security. The fail-over functions are designed to enable IT administrators to "connect multiple servers with one system that is kept ready in "live, warm" high-availability mode for activation in case the primary systems start running below predetermined performance levels."
According to analysts, technology improvements are successively increasing in mobile devices, meeting corporate standards. However, they have observed that IT managers are still skeptical over having their employees use mobile units due to lack of security and management capabilities.
The new Blackberry tool is scheduled for shipment this second quarter, though RIM did not disclose the companies that are beta testing the new tool.
