Mozilla Supports Decriminalizing iPhone Jailbreaking
Mozilla has shown support to quash copyright infringement charges to people who jailbreak their iPhones. Such practice is considered by Apple Inc. as illegal and Mozilla is backing up a move that would reverse such treatment to jailbreaking.Mozilla announced it would support Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) in a request for exemption to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The EFF asked that users who jailbreak their iPhones will not be charged of any infringement penalties.
Jailbreaking is the act of overriding the digital rights management. It enables iPhone users to run arbitrarily defined code or applications, bypassing Apple's code distribution mechanism.
