Microsoft to Build Blu-ray Support for Windows

Microsoft is considering to set Blu-ray support for Windows as part of a new feature pack. The feature pack is still on its amateur stage, but it’s already anticipated to heavily compete with HD DVD. One of its sophisticated features is having Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, and Server 2008 an option to burn Blu-ray discs from the operating system without the need to install a third party application. Furthermore, it has the ability to lockdown portable devices like USB flash drives with a certificate or password, and new smartcard driver support.
The impending release of the new feature pack will make Microsoft the first major operating system manufacturer to build in Blu-ray support.
